Everything is recycled in the end. At this present moment in time, the moon is like a cherry on top of an earth sundae. One day it may be so surrounded by nanotechnology assemblages, that it may eventually be part of the landscape. Doing the opposite of hanging in the sky, instead grounding the future asteroid cities into something organic and ancient.
This piece belongs to the Stone Tape Collection and is an exploration of my musings on this topic.
The Stone Tape Theory is the speculation that ghosts and hauntings are similar to tape recordings and that mental impressions during emotional or traumatic events can be projected in the form of energy, "recorded" onto rocks and other items and "replayed" under certain conditions when that energy is triggered by a certain frequency, sound or energy. It may be possible that the landscapes that surround us, and the earth itself beneath us, stores all the memories and history of humankind within it.
This artwork has been lovingly made using collage elements and acrylic paint. All layers have been sealed using archival mediums.
This piece has been sealed with UV-resistant varnish to protect the art for years to come.
